Type: Bowling Ball
The Hammer Black Widow 2.0 Hybrid is an upper-mid performance ball built for bowlers who want length through the front of the lane and a strong move when the ball reaches the breakpoint. Its red-and-black color scheme gives this performance piece the familiar look of the Black Widow line.
At the center is Hammer’s Gas Mask asymmetric core. An asymmetric core has an uneven shape that helps create a more defined change of direction. Around that core, the Black Widow Hybrid uses an HK22 Aggression Hybrid reactive coverstock. Reactive coverstocks create more traction than plastic and are designed to produce hook.
The factory finish combines 500, 1000, and 1500 Siaair with Crown Factory Compound. That surface helps the Hammer 2.0 Hybrid retain energy through the front part of the lane before making an aggressive move farther down the lane.
The Hammer Black Widow 2.0 is designed for medium-to-heavy oil conditions. Its hybrid cover balances traction and length, making it useful when you need the ball to clear the front of the lane without sacrificing a strong backend response.
This combination makes the Black Widow Hybrid useful when the front of the lane begins to transition, but there is still enough oil in the middle to support a stronger ball. The Gas Mask core helps create flare, which means fresh parts of the coverstock contact the lane as the ball rotates.
The red black widow bowling ball is offered from 12 to 16 pounds. Core numbers vary by weight, so bowlers choosing between weights should review the listed RG, differential, and asymmetry values. RG describes how quickly a ball begins to rev, while differential helps indicate its flare potential.

This hybrid ball is best suited to bowlers who already have some control over speed, release, and targeting. Its asymmetric core and reactive cover produce a stronger response than an entry-level ball, making it especially useful for league bowlers and experienced players building a versatile arsenal.
The Black Widow Hybrid is designed to create length through the front of the lane, then make a pronounced move at the breakpoint. The HK22 base resin helps the cover respond down-lane, while the Gas Mask core supports flare and a stronger overall shape.
The Hammer 2.0 Hybrid is rated for medium to heavy oil. It needs enough oil to clear the front of the lane without reading too early. On very dry conditions, its reactive cover and strong core may create more hook than some bowlers can comfortably control.
Wipe the ball with a microfiber towel during play to remove lane oil, then clean it with an approved bowling ball cleaner after the session. Over time, the surface may lose some of its original response. A pro shop can inspect the cover and restore the intended finish when needed.
This performance ball is built to hook, so it is not the easiest option for straight spare shots. Many bowlers pair it with a plastic spare ball that travels in a straighter line and reduces the effect of lane oil.
