Type: Bowling Balls
The more control you have, the better you are when the conditions in the lane become unpredictable. The DV8 Smooth Criminal Bowling Ball is designed to provide a smooth, predictable reaction to help bowlers maintain control when aggressive bowling balls are hard to control.
This is a pre-order bowling ball. It will ship on the release date.
Release Date: October 22, 2026
The Smooth Criminal features the Larceny core and Jailbreak (S5) Hybrid Reactive coverstock, combining a low RG, low differential core design with a smoother, lower-traction shell to produce predictable ball motion from the front of the lane through the pins.
The DV8 Smooth Criminal is the perfect choice for light to medium oil lane conditions, particularly on short to medium oil patterns, wet/dry house shots, or tough lane conditions where too much backend movement can hurt your accuracy.
High rev bowlers, no thumb bowlers and two-handed bowlers looking for a reliable control bowling ball will find the Smooth Criminal to be the versatile ball needed to make consistent shots count.
The DV8 Smooth Criminal is based on the Larceny core, which is designed to give a smooth, controllable reaction, not a big change of direction.
The Larceny core features a 15 lb RG of 2.471 and differential of .028. This core has a relatively low radius of gyration and limited flare potential, which means a controlled, predictable ball motion.
The lower RG encourages earlier rotational development and the lower differential helps to moderate the amount of track flare and overall reaction strength.
This combo is especially useful for high rev bowlers who already generate a good amount of hook and need a ball that gives them more control of the ball’s movement.
The Jailbreak (S5) Hybrid Reactive coverstock offers a smoother, lower-traction response than the more aggressive reactive bowling ball options.
The Smooth Criminal makes for a smoother transition between oil and friction when he hits dry boards instead of snapping back sharp.
This results in a more predictable ball reaction which helps in reducing the over reaction that can take place on wet/dry lane conditions.
The Smooth Criminal is a good option for bowlers looking for a hybrid reactive bowling ball for light oil or a solid option for tough house patterns with a fair amount of traction and a good amount of predictability.
