An all-new handbook from the American Bowling Congress,
Women's International Bowling Congress and USA Bowling. This is one of the
best (and certainly newest) books on bowling.
The Bowler's Guide is designed primarily for beginners, but every bowler
will benefit from the wealth of information contained in its 98 pages. Highly
recommended. |
| Introduction |
Bowling is different things to different people.
To some, it is a hard-fought competitive sport. To many others, it is a
relaxing form of recreation.
Toddlers and other youngsters may be introduced to it through a birthday
party or by mom and dad. Teenagers find the bowling center a great place
for that first date. Husbands and wives use their bi-weekly or monthly league
seessions as places to spend quailty time together. Men and women view their
weekly leagues as time to hang out with the "boys" or "girls"
while fueling their strong need to compete.
Bowling offers something for everybody. At its most basic roots, it is a
game and a sport, played by people age 3 to 105. As an indoor activity,
it is not restricted by weather. Outside conditions often help drive people
to the sport - away from winter's blustery cold and from summer's unbearable
heat.
To fully enjoy all bowling offers, understanding its historic roots, the
many organizations that make it successful and the proper way to play the
game is essential. That's the aim of this third edition of the "Bowler's
Guide", produced through the joint efforts of the American Bowling
Congress and Women's International Bowling Congress and with the added assistance
of the USA Bowling coaching staff.
This book provides ways for anyone to enjoy the game - especially beginners.
We hope you tell your friends how they too can use it to truly get the most
of America's largest participation sport - bowling.
